The Welsh Government’s 182-day rule is having a major impact on many genuine self-catering businesses across Wales. The Senedd raised the occupancy threshold from 70 days to 182 to qualify for small business rates relief. This is very difficult to achieve particularly in inland areas. Hospitality is united that #VATsTheProblem. A new sector-wide campaign, spearheaded by Tom Kerridge, is calling for hospitality VAT to be reduced from 20% to 10%.
