£4.6 billion in new lockdown grants to support businesses and protect jobs

5th Jan 2021 The Chancellor has announced £4.6 billion new lockdown grants to support businesses and protect jobs. For English businesses -Business Rated Properties Up to £15,000 RV = £4000£15001 – £51000 RV = £6000£51001 + = £9000 The Welsh Government will receive £227 million. Reminder – Restrictions Business Rates Fund opens from 4th January

Staying overnight in holiday accommodation

You can stay in a hotel or other forms of holiday accommodation such as holiday rental accommodation during the Christmas period (up to the end of 27 December), but in Wales you can only do this with people you live with (or someone who is with you to provide care for a vulnerable person).From 12:01 am on 28 December all accommodation must close unless authorised to remain open by a local authority or Welsh Ministers to accommodate vulnerable groups, key workers etc.People travelling to or from Northern Ireland are also entitled to stay overnight on 27 December but must vacate the accommodation in the course of 28 December.Restaurants and cafes […]

Extra £110 million to support Welsh businesses affected by new restrictions

To support businesses hit by the latest restrictions the government will today announce a further £110m in funding. Hospitality, non-essential retail, tourism, leisure and supply chain businesses will be eligible for the financial assistance.The funding is in addition to the £340m support for businesses which the Welsh Government announced at the end of November. The money will pay grants to hospitality and non-essential shops through the business rates system.Tourism, leisure and supply chain businesses will be eligible for the same support if turnover has fallen by 40% or more.
