2025 bathing water classifications

Annual classifications for designated bathing waters, as determined by Natural Resources Wales. Ninety-eight percent of designated bathing waters in Wales met stringent compliance standards this year โ€“ with the vast majority achieving ‘excellent’ status. 78 of the 112 designated bathing waters across Wales have been classified as ‘excellent’ โ€“ an increase of three sites when compared with 2024. A further 26 sites achieved ‘good’ status and 6 ‘satisfactory’. The bathing water classifications for the 2025 season have been provided by Natural Resources Wales (NRW) in accordance with the Bathing Water Regulations. Year of Croeso Weather Proofing Fund (Phase 3) –ย open to MEDIUM-sized businesses

Following strong sector engagement and a significant level of interest in Visit Wales’ Year of Croeso Weather Proofing fund, Visit Wales are launching a final, third phase to support medium-sized tourism businesses (50-250 employees). Weather Proofing fund isย now open to micro businesses

Following feedback, the criteria for the weatherproofing fund 2 has been amended. It is now open to Micro Businesses as well as SME’s. Eligible project costs could include infrastructure like: Canopies, pergolas, or covered seating Covered walkways or visitor shelters Woodchip or gravel paths Hard standing for car parks Indoor play areas and wet weather activities Facilities must be open to all โ€” We cannot fund facilities that are for the sole use of staying guests.

Building links between North Wales and Merseyside

As part of Network North Wales a new direct train service will run from Llandudno to Liverpool from May 2026, while improvements at Padeswood will unlock freight and passenger capacity between Wrexham and Liverpool. Improved transport links will further cement the close relationship between North Wales and Merseyside, with a direct train link between Llandudno and Liverpool and improved services between Wrexham and Liverpool on the horizon. Licensing Reforms Programme – Call for Evidence

The Government invites views and evidence to inform the development of a modern, proportionate and enabling licensing system. This call for evidence builds on the Licensing Taskforce recommendations and the Governmentโ€™s response[1] and supports the Governmentโ€™s commitment to reduce regulatory burdens by 25% by the end of this Parliament[2]. North Wales continues to shine in the UKโ€™s Domestic Market in 2024

In 2024, North Wales solidified its status as a must-visit destination, captivating UK travelers with its stunning landscapes and vibrant experiences, according to the Great Britain Tourism Survey (GBTS) and Day Visits Survey (GBDVS). With Great Britain logging 1.1 billion domestic trips and ยฃ87.8 billion in spend, North Wales punched above its weight, attracting roughly 2.28 million overnight trips (around 30% of Wales 7.61 million total) and generating over ยฃ670 million in visitor spending.
