£5m investment in Tourism Projects

The Welsh Government £5m Brilliant Basics fund supports schemes that deliver improvements to essential visitor infrastructure at tourism destinations across the length and breadth of the country. Business Events Delegate Spend (2025)

This report focused on a few main topics: expenditure by inbound business visitors to Britain, behaviour of delegates extending their trip for leisure, travel choices, sustainability & other findings. The business visits and events sector is incredibly diverse – covering trade fairs, conferences and congresses, outdoor and entertainment events, as well as business tourism. Report highlights: Average delegate spend at business events in the UK has risen well above inflation since 2017, primarily due to longer stays. International business events attracted much higher average spend than their domestic equivalents (4:1), as international visitors stayed longer and paid higher attendance fees. Network North Wales has been launched by Ken Skates, Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales Network North Wales is a hugely ambitious and transformative programme of work to better connect communities, with more rail and bus services, new stations, new transport routes, new trains, new buses and new technology.  At its heart will be the North Wales metro services. Cycling Tourism Development

This research explores the topic of cycling tourism in Wales, including current capacity and demand, as well as opportunities for growth. Main findings Stakeholders are very keen to see cycling tourism developed in Wales. The accommodation industry is also supportive. Stakeholder feedback and the desk research show that to a large extent, the product required to attract cycling tourists already exists in Wales. The emphasis is more on improving and maintaining better the product that currently exists rather than necessarily building a considerable number of new routes and trails. Weather-Proofing Fund for Tourism Attractions 2025-2026

Visit Wales is running a small-scale capital grants fund in 2025-2026 to support tourism attractions to invest in weather-proofing measures.  Purpose of fund Periods of poor weather negatively affect the operation of tourism attraction businesses in two main ways:  by preventing the business from operating as normal (for example, if a facility becomes water-logged)  by impacting negatively on the visitor experience and/or discouraging visits.  Weather-proofing measures supported by this Fund will be aimed at: mitigating these impacts by helping to support the business’s economic resilience and adaptability, strengthen the climate resilience of the business,  help enable the business to offer its best possible welcome to visitors during the 2025 Year […]
