As part of Network North Wales a new direct train service will run from Llandudno to Liverpool from May 2026, while improvements at Padeswood will unlock freight and passenger capacity between Wrexham and Liverpool. Improved transport links will further cement the close relationship between North Wales and Merseyside, with a direct train link between Llandudno and Liverpool and improved services between Wrexham and Liverpool on the horizon. The Government invites views and evidence to inform the development of a modern, proportionate and enabling licensing system. The Development of Tourism and Regulation of Visitor Accommodation (Wales) Bill (“the Bill”) provides the legislative framework for a licensing scheme for visitor accommodation. Following the success of the initial weather-proofing fund which allowed the tourism attraction sector to invest in weather-proofing measures, a new, second phase will support small tourism and hospitality businesses to mitigate the impact of all weather and enhance the experience for visitors. Grants of between £5,000 and £20,000 per project are available to support the installation of weather-proofing measure, such as new covered outdoor areas, dining pods, or surfacing and drainage.
