Museum to Provide Tourist Information

A Museum has joined forces with a tourism organisation to offer an information service for visitors.

Llandudno Museum and Gallery is situated in the town centre close to major car parks and public transport links so is ideally situated to provide the service. In conjunction with tourism body North Wales Tourism, it will offer a comprehensive range of tourist information, and has staff and volunteers who are able to offer advice on places to visit.

Mary Oliver who is chair of the museumโ€™s trustees commented: โ€œThis will be an excellent opportunity for both visitors and residents to access information about attractions in the town and the surrounding area. At the museum we have a wealth of local knowledge to draw upon to assist people seeking information to help them enjoy their stay here.โ€

And Jim Jones, Chief Executive of North Wales Tourism said: โ€œI am delighted to learn that the trustees of Llandudno Museum have decided to establish a dedicated Visitor Information Point within the museum. “The museumโ€™s central location and high footfall make it an ideal setting for this initiative. Not only will it provide visitors to Llandudno and North Wales, with helpful information about the area, it will also help raise the profile of the museum and generate additional footfall to this important cultural attraction.โ€

The museum is open to the public from 10am to 4pm from Tuesdays to Saturdays inclusive.

Senedd Elections

An election for the Senedd was held on 7 May 2026, to elect all 96 members to the Senedd. It was the seventh devolved general election since the Senedd (formerly the National Assembly for Wales) was established in 1999.

Welsh Labour lost government and its status as the largest party for the first time since devolution began in 1999, ending a winning streak that had lasted since the 1922 United Kingdom general election and resulting in a historic realignment of Welsh politics. Plaid Cymru emerged as the largest party for the first time with 43 seats, while Reform UK secured second place with 34 seats. Labour was reduced to third place with a historic low of 9 seats. The Welsh Conservatives and the Wales Green Party won 7 and 2 seats respectively, with the Greens entering the Senedd for the first time.

Full breakdown and list of the successful candidates can be viewed on the link below:

North Wales Tourism Launches Major Rail Promotion with Avanti West Coast and Adara

North Wales Tourism are delighted to announce a collaboration with Avanti West Coast and Adara to actively promote rail travel into North Wales as a convenient, sustainable, and scenic way to explore the region.

This exciting partnership aims to highlight the ease and beauty of travelling by train to North Wales, encouraging more visitors to choose rail as their preferred mode of transport.

As part of the campaign, stunning drone footage showcasing key railway stations across the region has been commissioned from Paul Hyde of Cymru Drones. The high-quality aerial visuals beautifully capture the dramatic landscapes and iconic stations that form the gateway to North Wales.

Complementing the visual content is a major social media campaign that has already generated strong engagement across platforms.

Jim Jones CEO said “this  partnership with Avanti West Coast and Adara, combined with the striking drone imagery and social media push, is helping to raise the profile of North Wales as a must-visit destination thatโ€™s easily accessible by train.โ€

The initiative supports broader efforts to grow sustainable tourism in the region and works hand-in-hand with ongoing international promotions.

Exciting Opportunity: Japanese Tourism Delegation Visit to North Wales

Weโ€™re delighted to announce that we are sponsoring the visit of Hiromi Tanaka, Deputy Director for International Affairs at Himeji City, who will be in North Wales from 19th May to 13th June.

Hiromi is undertaking a special learning and experiential programme to strengthen ties between Himeji and North Wales. This visit builds on the strong relationship developed since the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) launched its prestigious โ€œTop 20 Most Beautiful Roads in Europeโ€ campaign in 2018. That campaign famously featured the A55, naming it the โ€œRoad of Castles in Wonderlandโ€ a title that has since become the cornerstone of our premium itineraries for the Japanese market.

Hiromiโ€™s visit provides a valuable opportunity to further promote and refresh our offering along this iconic route.

Navigating Growth and Financial Pressures in the UK Holiday Park Sector

The UK holiday park and campsite sector continues to play a vital role in the domestic tourism economy. Generating billions in visitor expenditure and supporting thousands of jobs, it remains a significant contributor to regional growth and employment. In 2025, around 2,643 caravan and camping sites were operating across the UK, reflecting modest year-on-year growth of 1.4%.

โ€‹Yet, behind the headline figures is a more nuanced picture. While the sector experienced a strong resurgence following the pandemic, recent months have exposed areas of financial strain. The administration of Cove UK, which operated 11 sites, serves as a reminder that growth and popularity do not insulate operators from underlying financial pressures.

The Big Phone Line Change โ€“ What North Wales Businesses Need to Know

By CATalyst Systems

BT and other providers are in the process of switching off the UKโ€™s old analogue phone lines (often called PSTN or ISDN). These are the traditional copper phone lines many businesses have relied on for decades.

By January 2027, these analogue services will be permanently shut down and replaced with digital phone services that run over broadband connections.

What does this mean in simple terms?

Instead of your phones plugging into an old-style phone socket in the wall, they will run over your internet connection. This is often called:

  • Cloud Telephony
  • VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol)
  • Digital Phone Systems

If your business uses:

  • Desk phones
  • On-site phone systems (PBX)
  • Alarm lines
  • Card machines
  • Lift emergency lines
  • Broadband delivered over a traditional phone line

You may be affected.

Why is this happening?

The copper network is old, expensive to maintain, and no longer fit for modern digital demands. Moving to internet-based systems allows:

  • Better call quality
  • Greater flexibility (work from anywhere)
  • Lower running costs
  • Easier scalability
  • Integration with mobiles and remote teams

What should businesses do now?

Many businesses across North Wales still arenโ€™t aware this change is happening. The key is not to panic โ€” but to plan.

At CATalyst Systems, we specialise in:

  • Cloud VoIP phone systems
  • Managed IT support
  • Broadband upgrades
  • Network and infrastructure improvements

Weโ€™ve been helping businesses transition smoothly, ensuring their phones, broadband and connected services continue working without disruption.

Free Advice for North Wales Businesses

If you’re unsure whether your business is affected, weโ€™re happy to provide free, no-obligation advice. Sometimes itโ€™s as simple as checking your current setup and contract dates.

Financial Resilience and Cyber Security

She also outlined simple steps to strengthen cyber resilience and explained how cyber insurance can help protect against financial loss should the worst happen.

If you would like to learn more about either of these topics and what they mean for your business, or attend a future event hosted by the Ruthin & Dolgellau agency, please contact Hannah Hughes, NFU Mutual Agent, on 07585 583493 or hannahhughes@nfumutual.co.uk.
