A Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) is being introduced to increase recycling rates and reduce litter. The scheme will require consumers to pay a deposit on drinks containers (bottles and cans) which they will get back upon returning the empty containers. This initiative is part of the Welsh Government’s ambition to become a zero-waste nation by 2050.
