Self-Employment Income Support Scheme Grant Extension

The UK Government is continuing to support the self-employed due to the impact that coronavirus (COVID-19) has had and is extending the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS). The SEISS Grant Extension provides critical support to the self-employed in the form of two grants, each available for three month periods covering November 2020 to January 2021 and February 2021 to April 2021. The online service for the next grant will be available from 30 November 2020.HMRC will provide full details about claiming and applications in guidance on the website in due course. Economic Resilience Fund (ERF)

Just a quick update to say that Ken Skates, Minister for Economy, Transport, and North Wales announced at the WG briefing this lunchtime that a Phase 4 of the ERF fund will be launched. They are currently assessing the options and working on developing a mechanism for businesses to register an interest in any future funds.  No timescale were announced but it is anticipated that further update on the next steps will be provided in the coming weeks.

Support to the self-employed

The support to the self-employed 8 is increasing from 40% of trading profits to 80% for November. SEISS is calculated over 3 months so this increases the total grant from 40% to 55% of trading profits for November to January and the max grant increases to £5,160. Grants will also be paid faster than previously planned – with the claims window opening at the end of November rather than the middle of December.
