Questionnaire on the Welsh Government’s proposed new visitor accommodation licensing scheme

Wales Tourism Alliance, which North Wales Tourism are a member of have produced a questionnaire to gather invaluable information to help with discussions and lobbying of the Welsh Government. As part of the Welsh Government’s reforms to the tourism industry they are aiming to establish a ‘Licensing’ scheme for all visitor accommodation businesses. The Industry has long called for a ‘Registration’ scheme to assist with the development of a “level playing field” for all such businesses. UK Government Consultation on relaxation of licensing hours for the Coronation

The UK Government has launched a quick consultation on its proposal to relax licensing hours for the King’s coronation next year. The proposal will extend opening hours from 11pm to 1am on Friday 5 May, Saturday 6 May and Sunday 7 May, ending on Monday 8 May 2023, for the sale of alcohol for consumption on the premises and the provision of regulated entertainment in licensed premises in England and Wales.  The consultation closes on 23 January 2023.

PPL PRS Music licensing: Exemptions for Self Caterers

After over a year of negotiations with PPL /PRS. Thanks to PASC UK, the ASSC (Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers), The English Tourism Alliance and UK Hospitality have managed to negotiate some significant changes to the discretionary exemptions. The bar has been raised to exempt any business with three or less properties of any size on a single site.  This will take well over 90% of all self-caterers out of having to pay for this licence.  Previously self-catering had a discretionary exemption only requiring a PRS Licence if the property comprised more than one unit or more than three bedrooms, as long as :1/ The premises is the only holiday accommodation business that the […]
