First Minister Update 30th November:

From 6pm on Friday, new national measures will provide restrictions for hospitality businesses:- Pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes will have to close at 6pm, and will not be allowed to serve alcohol. After 6pm, takeaways only will be allowed.Indoor entertainment will have to close.Indoor attractions such as museums will also have to close, but outdoor visitor attractions can remain open.The rest of the measures will remain the same, no changes to extended households e.t.c.They will look again at travel, and make a further announcement later this week, following England lockdown completing.These measures will be in place until 17th December and then reviewed every three weeks. All indoor entertainment to close – cinemas, bowling – date to be confirmedNew Hospitality restrictions to come into force from next Friday – will be speaking to sector over weekend and restrictions will announced on Monday – a new financial package will be launched to support sector.All non essential retail, hairdressers, leisure centres and gyms to remain openNo suggestion that schools will close early before Christmas. The new restrictions will be apply to all of Wales rather than local lockdown /tiered approach.

BBC Wales Investigates, The Price of Lockdown

Below is a link to a programme which will be on BBC Wales next Monday evening 30th November featuring NWT Board Member Frankie Hobro, Anglesey Sea Zoo. The programme highlights the plight of the Tourism and Hospitality industry in Wales, the North in particular as a result of the Covid pandemic and Frankie was one of the businesses which the programme followed which will hopefully demonstrate the constant utter frustration about the complete lack of guidance and support and the inability to plan throughout, and being dealt the blow of going from the position of being on the brink of large expansion to fighting for survival. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000q1xk

VisitBritain priorities for 2021-2022

Following the Chancellor’s statement yesterday, VisitBritain have received confirmation that they will have a rollover budget for next year plus an additional pot to focus on agreed priorities. This means that there will be a core budget of £19.9 million for VisitBritain and a further budget allocation as they work to support tourism’s recovery. The Government has also confirmed its commitment to continuing the GREAT campaign to build brand Britain, with a budget of £60 million.
