Staying overnight in holiday accommodation

You can stay in a hotel or other forms of holiday accommodation such as holiday rental accommodation during the Christmas period (up to the end of 27 December), but in Wales you can only do this with people you live with (or someone who is with you to provide care for a vulnerable person).From 12:01 am on 28 December all accommodation must close unless authorised to remain open by a local authority or Welsh Ministers to accommodate vulnerable groups, key workers etc.People travelling to or from Northern Ireland are also entitled to stay overnight on 27 December but must vacate the accommodation in the course of 28 December.Restaurants and cafes […]

Extra £110 million to support Welsh businesses affected by new restrictions

To support businesses hit by the latest restrictions the government will today announce a further £110m in funding. Hospitality, non-essential retail, tourism, leisure and supply chain businesses will be eligible for the financial assistance.The funding is in addition to the £340m support for businesses which the Welsh Government announced at the end of November. The money will pay grants to hospitality and non-essential shops through the business rates system.Tourism, leisure and supply chain businesses will be eligible for the same support if turnover has fallen by 40% or more. WG Briefing Update – 16/12/20

Wales will go into a level four lockdown from 28 December. All non-essential retail in Wales and close contact services like hairdressers and nail bars, leisure and fitness centres must close at the end of trading on Christmas Eve, First Minister Mark Drakeford has said. Outlining new rules because of the “extremely serious” Covid situation in Wales, he said pubs, restaurants and cafes must also close from 1800 GMT on Christmas Day onwards.
