Historic St George’s Hotel is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Philip Newmarch as the new General Manager of the Hotel. This senior appointment follows the recent acquisition of Rowton Hall Hotel and Spa in Chester by Anderbury Ltd, an independent group of award-winning properties that also includes Hatherley Manor Hotel and Spa in Gloucester. CAT opens its doors to visitors for free this winter

Over the winter months, the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) will be welcoming thousands of visitors free of charge. CAT is fully equipped with everything you need for a great day out. Visitors can explore working examples of renewable energy, discover sustainable buildings and techniques, walk round organically managed gardens and learn about land management and the history of CAT on the Quarry Trail Walk through sustainably managed woodland. A commission for 300 of the finest welsh slate coasters to be produced for a nomination exhibition for the UNESCO Slate Landscape Heritage bid at Westminster this week. Inigo Jones are proud to support the nomination, as the slate industry is an iconic feature of North Wales, and it’s products have literally ‘roofed the nineteenth century world’. As an application was made to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport in Westminster back in 2010 for the industry to be included on the UK’s list of tentative World Heritage Sites to be submitted to UNESCO. North Wales Tourism member and North Wales’ newest luxury accommodation, Caer Rhun Hall, a three-storey, late-Victorian mansion with a private house atmosphere, opens to the public on 8 August.    The Grade II listed building was acquired two years ago and has undergone an extensive, multi-million pound refurbishment, creating 32 bedrooms in exclusive surroundings. The hotel will add further rooms in the grounds, growing to 76 by the end of 2019.
