Portmeirion offered free entry to visitors on St David’s Day and had a record-breaking number of visitors in response. This was the first time that Portmeirion has offered free entry to visitors on St David’s Day, a gesture which was well-received by visitors. The day outperformed expectations seeing the biggest number of day visitors for any single day in the company’s history. Visitors to the popular tourist attraction enjoyed complimentary guided tours of the village and an audio-visual show featuring Welsh architect Clough Williams-Ellis explaining how and why the village was built. A leading holiday park operator has unveiled plans to invest over £1 million in its Talacre Beach Resort. Darwin Escapes, which itself is headquartered at Talacre, plans to upgrade the resort’s clubhouse and accommodation facilities. The investment will see the introduction of a number of new caravans, refreshed interiors, a new entrance to the pool area and an extension to the clubhouse with a beach hut theme. There will also be a new children’s play area, a modernised reception, a new menu in the restaurant and a silver Airstream offering light bites. Boat show will help transform Anglesey into the events capital of North Wales A major maritime-themed show will spearhead ambitious plans to transform Anglesey into the events capital of North Wales. Tourism chiefs have hailed news that the All-Wales Boat and Leisure Show is coming to the Anglesey Showground as an economic boost for the island. The event from Thursday, May 30, to Saturday, June 1, is expected to attract boat lovers from across the UK. reCAPTCHA added to Go North Wales We have received a number of emails from members about our Go North Wales websites “email the provider form” being misused to send bogus enquiry. As a measure to reduce this we have this morning installed reCAPTCHA which is a system designed to establish that a visitor to Go North Wales is human and not a robot. We have also created a page on how to spot, and avoid falling for scams and will post new bogus emails that we receive from our members on this page.
